Hello my beautiful and faithful friends!
I have missed writing so this week we are taking Riithoughted back to the old school [cause i'm an old fool, whose so cool. what song is this from? the 1st to answer gets $5000 in Monopoly money!]
I was snooping around the internet today trying to see how many pictures i could actually find of Jesus, an accurate, brown, ugly Jesus. As a personal rant, i really get so sick of seeing a white Jesus with ultra long hair and an impressive beard. The Jesus presented to us is more likely to lead a hippie yoga class than turn over tables, call out the religious uptight with full sarcasm and willingly have the skin ripped off of his back and chest en route to his crucifixion.
We are only able to take Jesus as serious as we picture him to be and America has bought into a false “good moral teacher” version of Jesus. I am going to make a very harsh judgment, one that i am willing to be held accountable for [not that i get a choice]. My observation is that a large percentage of individuals who call themselves “christians” have no idea what it means to fall in love with Christ as SAVIOR, rather because they are middle class Americans who were drug to church they label themselves incorrectly.
If you go to church that does not make you a Christian.
If your parents go to church that does not make you a Christian.
If you are a good person, that does not make you a Christian.
If you are involved in “ministry” that does not make you a Christian.
If you hate gays and abortions that does not make you a Christian.
If you love Africa, that does not make you a Christian.
If you protest that does not make you a Christian.
If you like the band Kutless, that does not make you a Christian.
Now, some of these are certainly involved in the life of someone who has made a decision to follow Christ. So, since i have been so harsh, what does make a Christian?
An individual who is broken, empty, and realizes their need for a savior and then looks at the God who has called them and believes not only in God [as creator and sustainer] but in Jesus as SAVIOR [redeemer of sin and saver of souls]. Someone who is openly able to admit this need and turn a way from the empty unfulfilled life that is being lived. There is a relational element of Christianity that is often missed due to the act of faith [believing something that is unseen] and that is the link that holds the chain. I believe there are a very large number of people who initially see their need for a savior and the fulfillment of that is found in Jesus however, the relationship is overlooked, therefore the transformation is underdeveloped.
Why do i make such harsh conclusions? because if every person who called themselves a Christian would offer their lives as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to the Creator and understand that THIS is their spiritual act of worship. Also that they would not be conformed to the momentary hedonism of this world but would instead be transformed by the complete satisfaction that is found in Jesus Christ, our world would look DRASTICALLY different.
Please know that on my part there is grace offered in this due to the process of sanctification [look this word up if you don't know what it means], which is why I have started Riibuild and do what i do.
This was sparked by seeing this picture while trying to find pics of Jesus…
